BAMBOO-ST is our project with Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council from their UKSPF in 2025- 2026.
The project is in two strands:
- ENGAGE & EDUCATION
- GROWSPACE
As part of our Engage & Education work:
Brilliant Bamboo at the Pop-Up Park:
Brilliant Bamboo took over the Newcastle BID Pop-Up Park in Newcastle Town Centre for creative den-building for children and families on Friday 8 August 2025.
BAMBOO-CASTLE:
We staged a take-over the High Street with BAMBOO-CASTLE on Friday 28 August 2026: where BAMBOO by NoFit State Circus was performed, families of all generations created bamboo structures and played with mud-kitchens with PIF PAF’S Right to Play, we had our bespoke DISCOVER bamboo screen-printing with AIR-INK by Kirsty Smith, and Brilliant Bamboo artist/makers made a new bamboo-banner, bamboo-shakers and supported the event.

Booming Brilliant Talks with Rebecca Reubens:
On Tuesday 28 November, we hosted Dr Rebecca Reubens from Rhizome Design and Baka (India) for two talks, privately with architects and automotive designers from our local university, and a public talk with support from Keele in Town by Keele University.

We more Engage & Educate work planned for Jan – March 2026. If you’d like to find out more, please get in touch.
GROWSPACE:
For GROWSPACE, we are actively looking for places we can take on a long-term lease (20yrs with option to extend) to grow our bamboo, develop community horticulture skills, a community space and more. If you have access to land in Newcastle-under-Lyme, we’d be happy to hear from you about a partnership.
We are working with our friends and colleagues at Keele University to explore the opportunities on their campus as original partners in Imagine Bamboo and ongoing supporters of our work.
