More about the people and performers you’ll meet on the day:

About Domesday Morris:

A group of people with hats, ribboned costumes, brown trousers and black shoes are in two lines opposite hitting sticks in a choreographed fashion in a courtyard with a bottle-kiln in the background to show Domesday Morris in action

We are a border Morris side based in the ancient village of Penkhull, North Staffordshire, a large settlement recorded in the Domesday Book. We are a mixed side with membership including performers who are children still in school, right through to those a little longer in the tooth. Our dances are mainly adapted from traditional material with some self-penned. Domesday are noted for their high energy dancing and excellent music.

About Folk Dance Remixed:

A groundbreaking company creating unique fusions between Folk and Hip Hop styles with live
music. Led by Artistic Directors Kerry Fletcher and Natasha Khamjani, the company rediscover
old traditions through contemporary forms.

DJ Street Dance the Maypole!
A chance for all ages to get their hands on the maypole and dance together with a funky street dance routine mixed with folkie maypole moves, such as the Chrysanthemum Wrap and The Ripple. Suitable for 8yrs and up, if
younger they must be accompanied by an adult…all to a live DJ playing great dance music with remixed twists!

Anthony Hammond:

Is a woodsmith, crafty tinker & general arty bod. Specialist in carving, chainsaw carving, greenwood construction, willow sculpture & hedgelaying.
