From February to March 2025, Brilliant Bamboo is working with Middleport Matters and those in the Middleport area as part of the #DiscoverMiddleport project to co-create a new piece of bamboo sculpture and furniture with artist, Spencer Jenkins.
Middleport residents were some of the first to work with Bamboo as part of Imagine Bamboo for North Staffordshire, and we’re excited to be working with them again as a season of 2025 projects get underway for Brilliant Bamboo.
Alongside Spencer’s new moveable furniture and artwork from made with bamboo and other natural materials, artist Francesca Wheeler will run two sessions for participants to get hands-on with bamboo making.
Spencer will be in Middleport meeting existing groups on Thursday 13 and Thursday 20 February 2025 as part of our co-created making process.
Francesca will be running bookable sessions on Wednesday 26 February and Wednesday 5 March, 10am – 1pm. These sessions are designed for over 18’s who are interested in exploring Bamboo. Booking is essential, so please call 01782 817590 or message via Facebook: Middleport Matters. Leaflet below:

Date for the diary! We are also planning a Bamboo Block Party to celebrate the artwork at the sensory garden on Saturday 29 March 2025, 12pm – 3pm. For more details check back soon or follow the process and events on our blog, Instagram and LinkedIn.
