On Saturday 25 October, 36 people joined Brilliant Bamboo and Anthony Hammond to make brooms ahead of the witch and wizard celebration (Halloween). The besom brooms used the coppiced birch trees from the Brilliant Bamboo Brownfield Parklet and other sustainably sourced coppiced materials to take home.
With guidance from Anthony Hammond: “Woodsmith, crafty tinker & general arty bod. Specialist in carving, chainsaw carving, greenwood construction, willow sculpture & hedgelaying.” we all had a great time.
This is a small selection of images taken of the Besom Brooms in the making by Nat Willatt.

Thanks to everyone who came along. The event was possible with thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund.
