In May 2024, Gemma headed to Dortmund for a second time for the second European Bamboo Expo.
Details of the programme and magazine featuring the programme: European Bamboo Expo 2024 (yumpu.com).
It was two days of networking and inspiration with some of the world’s bamboo community.
In this, the first episode of the Booming Brilliant podcast, Gemma talks to:
- Iraklis Kalamenios from WeProductions, founder and organiser of the European Bamboo Expo.
- Heike Regener, from meineHeimat.ruhr introduces Dortmund as the host city following a fantastic tour. The tour was sponsored by the Economic Development Agency from the City of Dortmund.
- Michael Brisbane from the Bamboo Society of Great Britain, an experienced nursery-man, formerly Jungle Giants (UK), bamboo expert, friend and colleague. We have an in-depth chat in an upcoming episode.
- Laure Julien, an artist and designer taking her inspiration from artisan, craftspeople, fashion, public art alongside sharing skills with communities and artisans based in France.
- Antonio F. Duarte, an artist, architect with Blue Temple and co-founder of Housing Now in Myanmar.
This podcast could not be possible without the kindness of those I had conversations with, met or the support of Peter Herbert from PH Productions for equipment use and editing of this first episode. Thank you!
