About Jan Glasmeier:

Jan Glasmeier is a German Architect holding a Diploma in Architecture (2006) from the Technical University in
Darmstadt, Germany. Before moving to South-East Asia in 2010, Jan has worked for several architecture firms including Foster+Partners in London & Abu Dhabi and Arup in Singapore. In 2020/21 Jan was a guest professor at BASEHabitat at the University of Arts in Linz, Austria. In January 2025 he became an appointed member of the Association of German Architects (BDA).

Over the past ten years, Jan has been located on the Thai-Burma border working for migrant communities along the Thai-Burma border. During his work he created a very strong bond with those communities and was able to completed around fifty projects.

Jan believes, that as Architects we should embrace cultural building traditions, which, over centuries, have proven to be energy efficient and sustainable. This traditional knowledges are often ignored by prevailing architects. It is Jan’s mission to bring back low-tech methods of creating building solutions which are a pure reaction to an individual person’s or community’s needs.
